Introduction
If you have opened a zero balance savings account in the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) and received a card with your account number, you can easily access your account through the IPPB Mobile Banking app. This guide walks you through how to register, set up MPIN, and activate your virtual debit card.
Step 1: Install the IPPB Mobile Banking App
- Open the Google Play Store on your mobile.
- Search for “IPPB Mobile Banking”.
- Tap on Install and allow all permissions.
- After installation, open the app and tap on “Login Now”.
Step 2: SIM Verification and Registration
- The app will detect the SIM linked to your IPPB account.
- Select the correct SIM, accept the terms, and tap Start SMS Verification.
- Wait for the system to verify your mobile number.
- On the next screen, enter the following:
- Account Number
- Customer ID
- Date of Birth
- Tap Register.
Your account number and customer ID can be found on the card issued by the post office.
Step 3: Set MPIN and Security Questions
- Enter a 4-digit MPIN of your choice.
- Re-enter the same MPIN for confirmation.
- Tap Set MPIN.
- Answer a few security questions and tap Submit.
- You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number.
- The OTP will be auto-submitted and your registration will be completed.
Step 4: Log In to the IPPB App
- Tap Login.
- Enter the MPIN you just created.
- You will now see your account balance, account number, and mini statement on the dashboard.
Step 5: Activate Virtual Debit Card (Optional)
- In the menu, tap on “Debit Card”.
- Select “Request Virtual Debit Card”.
- Accept the terms and confirm.
- A ₹25 fee will be deducted from your account as a virtual card insurance charge.
- Enter the OTP sent to your mobile and submit.
- Your virtual debit card will be generated instantly and shown on your screen.
Card validity is 60 months. You can use this card for registering on UPI apps like PhonePe or Google Pay.
