Overview of the BSF Recruitment Drive 2025
The Border Security Force is set to release a notification for more than 17,000 vacancies. This recruitment is for various Group B and Group C posts, including Constable GD, Head Constable, Sub Inspector (SI), Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI), and Tradesman roles. Applications for these positions will be accepted online, and both male and female candidates are eligible to apply.
The recruitment drive is being initiated to strengthen the nation’s security, with plans to form 16 new battalions. This expansion is aimed at ensuring the country is well-prepared to safeguard its borders.
Available Positions
The recruitment will cover a range of posts, with educational qualifications varying for each role:
- Constable GD: Open to 10th pass candidates.
- Head Constable: Open to 12th pass candidates.
- Sub Inspector (SI) & ASI: Open to candidates with a graduate degree.
- Tradesman: Open to 10th pass candidates.
- Other Group B and C posts.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet specific criteria regarding nationality, age, and education to be eligible for these positions.
Nationality and Domicile: The application process is open to all Indian citizens. Candidates from any state or district in India can apply for this all-India level recruitment.
Age Limit: The minimum age for applicants is 18 years, and the maximum age is 23 years. Age relaxation is provided as per government norms for reserved categories:
- SC/ST Candidates: 5 years of age relaxation.
- OBC Candidates: 3 years of age relaxation.
Educational Qualifications: The minimum required qualification is a 10th-class pass. However, various posts are available for candidates who have completed their 10th, 12th, or graduation.
Selection Process
The selection process for the BSF recruitment will be conducted in multiple stages. Candidates must clear each stage to proceed to the next.
- Physical Test (PST & PET): The first stage involves physical standard and efficiency tests.
- Written Examination: Candidates who pass the physical tests will be eligible for the written exam.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will undergo verification of their documents.
- Merit List: The final merit list will be prepared based on performance across all stages.
Physical Standard Test (PST) Details
The physical standards vary for male and female candidates.
For Male Candidates:
- Height: Minimum 165 cm.
- Chest: 76 cm (unexpanded) to 81 cm (expanded), with a minimum 5 cm expansion.
- Weight: Must be proportionate to height as per medical standards.
For Female Candidates:
- Height: Minimum 157 cm.
- Weight: Must be proportionate to height as per medical standards.
- Chest: Not applicable.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Requirements
Candidates will also be tested on their physical endurance and fitness.
For Male Candidates:
- Run: 1.6 km to be completed in 7 minutes.
- Long Jump: 11 feet (3 chances provided).
- High Jump: 3.5 feet (3 chances provided).
For Female Candidates:
- Run: 800 meters to be completed in 5 minutes.
- Long Jump: 8 feet (3 chances provided).
- High Jump: 2.5 feet (3 chances provided).
Candidates will be given three attempts for both the long jump and high jump. A fourth chance will not be provided.
Essential Documents for Application
Applicants must have the following documents ready before applying to ensure a smooth process. Submitting correct information as per the original documents is crucial to avoid rejection.
- Passport-size photograph (4 to 20 copies).
- Scanned signature.
- Aadhaar card.
- Personal mobile number and email ID.
- Educational certificates and mark sheets (from 10th onwards).
- Caste certificate (for SC/ST/OBC candidates).
- Age proof (10th mark sheet or birth certificate).
- Any other relevant documents (e.g., sports certificate for potential bonus marks).
